How to Backup iTunes Library

itunes library backupsFor iPod users, you used to put the music and movies of iTunes onto iPod, but as the quantity of media increases, the work to backup iTunes Library is becoming more and more necessary. What' more, sometimes you want to use the iTunes media on your laptop, so to backup iTunes Library and purchases to CD or DVD can keep long and safe for valued media. Following is the process to backup iTunes Library. Hope it can be useful for you.

Step 1: Install a DVD burner (compatible with the CD burning function)

1) Open iTunes Preferences:

Mac: From the iTunes menu, choose "Preferences".
Windows: On the Edit menu click "Preferences".

2) Click Advanced. Then click Burning.

3) If the drive is listed, it's compatible; if not, it shows "No supported Disk burner found".

4) Then you can choose the "Back Up to Disc..." from the File menu; select the option you want from the pop-up dialog and click "Back Up" to make sure you have the DVD/CD burner on your computer.

Tip: All the three options you can choose and you need to note that the third choice is for you to perform an incremental backup.

Step 2: Burn/backup to DVD/CD

1) Insert a blank disc into your computer's drive, then iTunes will scan the disc and begin burning.

2) iTunes burns the number of items that fit on one disc and then asks you to insert subsequent discs to continue burning the remaining files.

Step 3: Restore from a burned disc

1) Open iTunes.
2) Insert your burned disc.
3) iTunes will ask whether you want to restore from this disc; then click "Restore", and media will be restored on your iTunes library.
